Fall Family Recreation Options with Today in America Terry Bradshaw

It is the fall harvest season and despite the summer’s devastating drought pumpkins have loved it. Today in America Terry Bradshaw looks into family recreation options now that the air is cooler in some parts of the country and yes, there is even snow on the ground. Pumpkins love the dry earth and they fared very well in the drought. So well that many farms across the country have an abundance of the large, orange and fun fruit. Hay rides are another great idea for the family. Dress warmly and wear sturdy shoes to get on and off hay wagons. Snow has fallen in some areas already and everyone can enjoy going outside for a snowball fight and then come back in for a favorite hot drink. There are lots of outdoor activities for the family in the fall. Take advantage of the good weather and enjoy them.

A family that plays together stays together.  Thinking of going on an outing this weekend?  Planning a hiking trip with your children or close friends?  Engaging in activities that invite happiness and peace of mind is important.  Whether it’s in the form of rest, entertainment or adventure, recreation offers the opportunity to take a refreshing break from the hustle-and-bustle of daily life and reconnect with family and loved ones.

There are two types of recreation: active recreation, which includes adventure sports or outdoor games; and passive recreation, which involves less intense activities such as walking on the beach, strolling in a park, or taking a nature tour.

The Family Recreation series will discover how both kinds of recreation provide opportunities for families to bond with each other, solve problems, and strengthen their relationships.  Join us as we take a look at some of the nation’s best places for family fun.
